[Alpha] Create an Attentive LiveSMS™ bubble unit

This article assumes that you’ve already onboarded with Attentive Concierge™ and understand how Concierge works. If you haven’t yet, you may want to check out the following before proceeding:

Attentive LiveSMS™ lets you add an additional bubble to your store and other websites that makes it easier than ever for both new and existing subscribers to opt in, ask questions, get help, and have a great conversational experience. LiveSMS is a great way to help drive revenue too, as Concierge agents can send offers and make personalized product recommendations in conversations from any page on your store.

When site visitors who haven’t subscribed to messages from you see LiveSMS, they're prompted to enter their mobile number to subscribe. If an existing subscriber on a mobile device sees LiveSMS or a LiveSMS landing page, they see a button that lets them start a conversation with a Concierge agent.

You can also build LiveSMS landing pages for both mobile and desktop visitors. You can share a link to these landing pages on social media, your website, email signature, and more.

How does LiveSMS work?

Concierge LiveSMS works similarly to Attentive sign-up units, although the experience is slightly different between mobile and desktop devices.

On mobile devices:

  1. First, when someone visits your website or landing page on a mobile device, they see a bubble that asks if they want assistance.
  2. Then, a page appears with a button that prompts them to send a text message to you by clicking a button.
  3. Once they tap the button, their SMS app opens with a pre-filled opt-in text message to you. When they send you the pre-filled message, they're opted in to messaging from you.
  4. Once visitors send the pre-written message, they enter a welcome journey, which first sends them legal details about your SMS messaging program and then a second message letting them know they can reply to the message to start a conversation with your Concierge agent.
  5. If subscribers reply to one of your messages, the message is forwarded to one of your Concierge agents, who answers their questions and has a conversation with them.

On desktop devices:

  1. When someone visits your page on a desktop device, they see a bubble that they click to get help.
    A page opens, prompting them to enter their mobile number.
  2. Once they enter their number and click Text me, you send them a text message that asks them to reply to opt in to messaging from you.
  3. When subscribers opt in, they enter a welcome journey, which first sends them legal details about your SMS messaging program and then a second message letting them know they can reply to the message to start a conversation with your Concierge agent.
  4. If subscribers reply to one of your messages, the message is forwarded to one of your Concierge agents, who answers their questions and has a conversation with them.

As with sign-up units, your brand styles are automatically applied to LiveSMS, but you can also customize almost all aspects of your LiveSMS.

Desktop vs mobile LiveSMS bubble units

Both desktop and mobile LiveSMS bubble units makes it easy for your subscribers to ask questions and get assistance on-demand from your Concierge agents, but the experience works differently based on their devices and opt-in status with you.

For non-subscribers who see a LiveSMS unit on:

  • Desktop: They see a window that lets them enter their phone number and a subscribe CTA that opts them in to messaging from you.
  • Mobile: They see a two-tap signup unit. The subscribe CTA opens their messaging app with a pre-populated message that, when sent, opts them in to messaging from you

For existing subscribers who see LiveSMS on:

  • Desktop: They see the phone number that they can text to get help from your Concierge agents.
  • Mobile: They see a button that they can tap to start a new Concierge conversation with you.

Due to the above different experiences, you’ll get the best results with LiveSMS if you make unique LiveSMS experiences for both desktop and mobile.

Create a Concierge LiveSMS bubble unit 

  1. Go to Sign-up Units.
  2. Click + Create sign-up flow.
  3. On the Create sign-up flow popup, click Build custom and then click Continue.
  4. Enter a memorable name for your LiveSMS bubble. If you include LiveSMS in the name, it will be easier to find and update later.
  5. Under the sign-up flow name field, go to the Other tab.
  6. Click one of the Concierge LiveSMS tiles in either the Mobile or Desktop section, depending on which type you want to create.
  7. Click Create.

    Your new Concierge LiveSMS bubble unit opens. It automatically has your brand styles applied, but you can also customize almost every aspect of the LiveSMS.
  8. When you’re finished designing your LiveSMS, click Save and continue.
  9. Next, assign an SMS welcome journey and optionally an offer:
    • (Optional) Select an offer to send to new subscribers when they opt in to messages from you.
    • Select an SMS Welcome Journey to attach to your LiveSMS. If you created a unique welcome journey for Concierge, select that; otherwise, use your default welcome journey.
  10. Set the display rules for your LiveSMS. For more, check out Set display rules. When you’re finished, click Save and continue.
  11. Before scheduling your LiveSMS, review its details. You can also click View LiveSMS flow to review the full site visitor experience. When you’re done, click Schedule, and set whether you want to enable the sign-up unit right now or at a scheduled time and date in the future.
