Use the Dashboard to understand messaging performance

The Dashboard gives you a suite of different metrics to help you understand your messaging performance. You can use it to understand what’s working and what’s not, spot key trends, and optimize your messaging strategy.

You should know

Some important notes on the data you see:

  • Data displayed for specified date ranges are based on your company time zone, which you can modify in your settings.
  • Message send volume shown is based on total messages sent, not message segments.
  • Email data backfilled: Between 9/1/21 and 10/10/21, Attentive backfilled a set of email subscribers to correctly account for emails collected prior to that period. This backfill accounts for a single-day spike in the number of emails you collected. This backfill is a reporting update only and doesn't affect your message sending or subscription status.
  • If you were collecting SMS subscribers prior to September 2020, subscription stats were backfilled such that all earlier data are shown in a single-day spike on 9/14/20.
  • Dashboards are displayed in your company’s sending time zone unless otherwise noted.
  • Legal messages are included in overall journey counts in visualizations on the Dashboard page. Legal messages aren’t included, however, in Journey Performance reports.

You can hover over the name of each data tile to read a description of what it represents and details about how it was calculated:

Review Dashboard data

By default, all of the data shown compares the most recent 30 days to the prior 30 days.

Use the Date range dropdown menu to set the range of data shown.

You can choose from last 7 days, last 30 days, quarter to date, and more. You can also use the Start date and End date to filter for the exact range of time you want to see.

The Compare to previous dates option, enabled by default, adds another metric to each data tile that shows the percentage change from the comparison period. Below, the -34.4% means that your messages generated 34.4% less revenue between April 22 and May 21 than you did from March 22 to April 21.

You can change the Compare to previous dates option to look at the previous period of the range you set in Date range, or to the same time period from the year before.

Filter Dashboard data

The Dashboard gives you visualizations for four types of data:

Subscribers

The Subscribers set of tiles provides comprehensive insights about the number of subscribes and unsubscribes for your messaging program.

At the top of this section are two key metrics:

  • Total Text Marketing Subscribers: The total number of customers who are currently opted in to receive marketing-related text messages from your company.
  • Email Collected: The total number of new email addresses collected.

    Note: A different email metric appears for customers using Attentive Email. See Dashboard for email to learn more.

Below these metrics are three tiles that show data for the date range specified at the top of the Dashboard page:

  • Text Subscribes: The number of new text message subscribes. Note that this doesn't include those who only opted in to transactional messages. The subscribe metrics in this tile match the data that’s available in the Text Subscriber Growth report.
  • Text Unsubscribes: The number of new text unsubscribes. Note that this doesn't include those who were only opted in to transactional messages. The unsubscribe metrics in this tile match the data that’s available in the Text Subscriber Growth report.
  • Emails Collected: The number of new email addresses collected.
Note: The Emails Collected tile doesn’t appear for customers who use Attentive Email. Instead, two different tiles show data about new email subscribes and unsubscribes. See Dashboard for email to learn more.

Revenue

The Revenue set of tiles shows you data about the revenue performance of your messages.

Note: Revenue metrics are attributed to the conversion date. Keep in mind that this differs from revenue metrics in the Campaign Performance visual report, which is attributed to campaign send date.

Data includes:

  • Revenue: The total amount of revenue generated across all message types.
  • Campaigns revenue: The total revenue generated across all of your campaign messages, divided into email and text messages.
  • Journeys revenue: The total revenue generated across all of the messages sent with journeys, divided further into email and text messages.
  • Other: The total revenue generated across all transactional and Concierge purchases, as well as conversions with an Attentive-specific coupon code that fall outside of the specified attribution window.

Message Send Volume

The Message Send Volume set of tiles shows you data about the total number of messages that you’ve sent.

Data includes:

  • Messages sent: The total number of messages you sent across all message types, further divided into email and text messages.
  • Campaign messages sent: The total number of campaign message you sent, further divided into email and text messages.
  • Journeys messages sent: The total number of messages sent with journeys, divided further into email and text messages.

Billable spend

The Billable Spend set of tiles shows you the billable spend for the messages you sent through Attentive.

Important note: All billable spend numbers are preliminary estimates. These estimates are not guaranteed, and will not supersede the cost or number of messages billed for in your monthly invoice. Message costs here may differ from those shown on your invoice.

Data includes:

  • Billable spend: Your total billable spend, based on outgoing and received messages. Includes carrier fees.
  • Campaign billable spend: Your billable spend for all of the campaign message you sent. Includes carrier fees.
  • Journeys & received billable spend: Your billable spend for all of the messages you sent through journeys and received messages. Includes carrier fees.
