Exclude products from product recommendations and multiple dynamic products

If you use Shopify, you can exclude products from appearing as product recommendations or multiple dynamic products in your emails. For example, you can tag products like insurance, warranties, or seasonal items so that they don't appear. You can do this by adding  ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG to those products in Shopify:

  1. In Shopify, go to Products.
  2. Click the product you want to exclude from product recommendations.
  3. In the Tags field under Product Organization, create the following tag: ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG
Adding the ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG to a product in Shopify.
  4. Click Save.

Repeat steps 1-4 for each product you want to exclude from product recommendations. If you want to include a product in recommendations or multiple dynamic products again, remove  ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG in Shopify.

Note: When you add the tag ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG to a product in Shopify, it may take up to 24 hours before that product is excluded from product recommendations in emails you send through Attentive.

Product exclusions apply to dynamic product recommendations and multiple dynamic products (added with the DYNAMIC PRODUCTS content block). They don’t apply to products you manually add to an email from your product catalog or single dynamic product images (added with the DYNAMIC IMAGE content block) that show the product that triggered an email.

Example: if you’ve added the tag ATTV_GLOBAL_EXCLUSION_TAG to an insurance product in Shopify, the insurance product won’t appear as a dynamic product recommendation in your email if a subscriber adds your insurance product to their cart, the email is triggered by a cart abandon event, and the email includes multiple dynamic products (using the PRODUCT RECS content block or the DYNAMIC PRODUCTS block in the email editor).

However, the insurance product will appear if a subscriber adds your insurance product and other items to their cart, the email is triggered by a cart abandon event, and the email includes a single dynamic product image (using the DYNAMIC IMAGE content block).

Note: If you want the email to show only a single product, but you still want to take advantage of product exclusions, add a DYNAMIC PRODUCTS content block in the email editor and configure it to show only one product.
