Set up product feeds to specify which products are eligible for product recommendations in your emails. This allows you to fine-tune product recommendations, for example to showcase only sale items or kids’ items in a given email message.
Before you begin
In order to use product feeds, your company must share product data with Attentive. Product data can be shared via an eCommerce integration (like Shopify) or via the Product Catalog API. To use product feeds, products must be associated with a category or collection in your eCommerce platform or have values for categories
or collections
in the Product Catalog API payload. Contact your Attentive CSM or our White Glove team (whiteglove@attentivemobile.com) if you have questions or need assistance.
Create a new product feed
Follow these steps to create a new product feed:
- In Settings, go to Products.
- Click + New Product Feed. This opens the Create a new product feed window.
- In the Create a new product feed window, enter a unique Product feed name.
- Define your product feed with rules:
- Choose a filter from the dropdown (
Category
,Collection
,Inventory
,Price
, orTag
). Follow the instructions in the section below if you chooseInventory
orPrice
.
Note: Corresponding data from your eCommerce platform or in your Product Catalog API payload must be available in order to use a filter. For example, to use thePrice
filter, products must have prices. - Choose a condition (
Is
orIs not
) - Choose values based on your selected filters. You can select multiple filters.
Note: When you select multiple values, the rule evaluates whether any of the selected products satisfy the rule. For example, for the ruleCategory
Is T-Shirts
Sweatshirts
, the rule evaluates whether the category is t-shirts or sweatshirts. - (Optional) Click Add rules to add more rules.
Note: When you create multiple rules, the product feed evaluates whether products meet the conditions of all rules. For example, consider a product feed with two rules:Category
Is
T-Shirts
andCategory
Is
Men's
. For a product to be included in the feed, it must be in both theT-Shirts
andMen's
categories.
- Choose a filter from the dropdown (
- Click Save.
You can find your new product feed on the Products page. To edit a product feed, click the three dots on the right side of the page for that product feed, then click Edit feed.
Filter by inventory
Setting a minimum or maximum inventory filter excludes products outside these limits from recommendations. For example, you can use the inventory filter to ensure that products running low on inventory don’t appear in product recommendations.
- Create or edit a product feed.
- If you’re creating a new feed, choose
Inventory
from the dropdown when setting up the first rule.
If you’re editing an existing feed, you can change the selected filter in a rule forInventory
or click Add rules to add another rule withInventory
as the filter. - Choose whether the
Inventory
should beMore than
orLess than
a certain amount.
Note: A product’s inventory is the sum of all product variant inventory quantities. Product feeds can only be filtered by product quantity, not product variant quantity. - Enter the amount that the rule should evaluate to determine whether to include a product.
For example, if you create the ruleInventory
IsMore Than
100
, then only products with an inventory count greater than 100 will be included in the feed and in product recommendations. - (Optional) Click Add rules to add additional rules.
- Click Save.
Filter by price
Setting a minimum or maximum price filter excludes products outside these limits from recommendations. For example, you can use the price filter to ensure that products that are free don’t appear in product recommendations.
- Create or edit a product feed.
- If you’re creating a new feed, choose
Price
from the dropdown when setting up the first rule.
If you’re editing an existing feed, you can change the selected filter in a rule forPrice
or click Add rules to add another rule withPrice
as the filter. - Choose whether the
Price
should beMore than
orLess than
a certain amount. - Enter the amount that the rule should evaluate to determine whether to include a product.
For example, if you create the rulePrice
IsMore Than
$50
USD, then only products that cost more than $50 will be included in the feed and in product recommendations.
Notes:- This filter only supports one currency. The currency of the filter will match the currency of your default region in Attentive. If your product catalog contains products with prices in multiple currencies, only products that meet the conditions of your rules and whose price is in your default currency will be included in the feed and product recommendations.
- If a product has multiple variants, all variants must meet the conditions of your rules. For example, if you create the rule
Price
IsMore Than
$50
USD, then products with any variants that cost less than $50 won’t be included in the feed and product recommendations. - Deleted and out-of-stock products aren't counted as eligible products and are excluded from product feeds.
- (Optional) Click Add rules to add additional rules.
- Click Save.
