Cordial + Attentive identity boost guide

Add contact ID as a link tracking parameter to the links in your Cordial emails and share email addresses and contact IDs from Cordial with Attentive. This helps us better identify your email subscribers when they browse your site.

By completing the steps in this article, you can increase your text and email message journey volume and revenue.

Note: You must be an administrator in Cordial to complete the steps below.

Step 1: Add contact ID to Cordial email links

First, add contact ID as a link tracking parameter to the links in your Cordial emails.

Note: Make sure you’re adding Cordial Contact ID and not Customer ID. See System variables – Cordial Knowledge Base for more information.
  1. In Cordial, go to Account Settings.

  2. Go to Email Link Append Defaults.
  3. Click the pencil icon in the Link Append Defaults panel.
  4. Enter the following values in the Link Append Defaults panel:
    • Key: cID
    • Value: {$contact.id}

  5. Click Save.
  6. Sign up for your brand’s email program on your website and confirm that link URLs in the email you receive contain a cID.

Go to the next step to export subscriber email addresses and contact IDs from Cordial, which you’ll then be able to share with Attentive.

Step 2: Export subscriber email addresses and IDs from Cordial

After you’ve added contact ID as a link tracking parameter to the links in your Cordial emails, you’ll need to export email addresses and Cordial contact IDs from Cordial and share them with Attentive.

  1. In Cordial, go to Contacts > Export Contacts.

  2. From the panel on the right, click and drag Subscribe status to the Include Contacts panel.
  3. In the Include Contacts panel, select Subscribed. This filters your contact list to include only active subscribers. When finished, click Export.

  4. In the Create Data job window, enter a job Name, select One time for the Job Occurrence, and choose a Priority level (Standard priority is the default). Click Continue when finished.

    You’re redirected to a new page, where you’ll see a message letting you know that your data export job has been created.

  5. Click the pencil icon in the Data Mapping panel.

  6. In the Data Mapping panel, change the Export file name to the name of your company and select Cordial contact ID and Email from the Attribute column(s) dropdown.

  7. Click Save. The export will begin. Keep in mind that it make take some time before the export is finished.
  8. Go to Data Jobs Completed One Time Data Jobs to confirm that the export is finished. alt

    When the export is finished, you’ll also receive a notification and the file will be downloaded on your device.
  9. Share the exported file with Attentive via the Box.com link provided by your Attentive CSM. The file will be uploaded into Attentive so that traffic from emails sent via Cordial can be tied to subscriber profiles in Attentive.

    Note: You must submit an Attentive Outside Subscriber List Certification form before your file can be uploaded into Attentive.
