Connect Attentive with Intercom to enable your customer support team to directly answer customers' text message responses. With this integration, all messages received from a customer through SMS are forwarded to your customer support team queue in Intercom.

Note: If you've previously integrated with Intercom and have legacy apps in your Intercom developer workspace, please delete them.


Ensure that you meet the following requirements in order to set up this integration:

  • An Intercom account

Now, complete the following procedures to set up the integration.

Step 1. Grant Attentive permissions on your Intercom account

  1. Sign in to your Intercom account to complete this setup.
  2. Sign in to your Attentive account, navigate to the integrations setup page and select Intercom.
  3. Click Install.
  4. Click Connect.

  5. Click Authorize access.

Step 2. Configure the integration in Attentive

Complete the following procedure to configure the integration in Attentive:

  1. Return to the Intercom integration setup page.
  2. Edit the following Support Confirmation settings:
    • Support Confirmation Keyword
      Note: The auto-response message lets your customers know to use this keyword if they would like to talk to a customer service agent.
    • Acknowledgement Message
    • (Optional) Resolution Message
  3. Click Save and continue.
    Your Intercom account is now connected to Attentive.
