Back in Stock Waitlist overview

Heads up: This article assumes that you’re already familiar with sign-up units and journeys in Attentive. If you’re not already, you may want to familiarize yourself with the following:

Back in Stock Waitlist lets visitors to your Shopify store enroll in notifications for out-of-stock products with variants, like size or color. When the out-of-stock item is replenished, you send enrolled subscribers an automated message letting them know the product is available and includes a link to purchase.

Important: If you want to use Back in Stock Waitlist for your store, your store must:

  • Be on Shopify
  • Use Shopify inventory management and not a third-party or external inventory management system

You must also reach out to your Attentive CSM before you implement Back in Stock Waitlist.

This feature adds a customizable Notify me CTA button to your Shopify product pages and appears when an item in your store is out-of-stock. All visitors to your Shopify store can enroll in back-in-stock waitlist notifications by clicking or tapping the Notify me CTA button. If a visitor hasn’t already, they opt-in to text messages from you when they enroll in the waitlist. You can send back-in-stock notifications as text and email messages.

How do I set up Back in Stock Waitlist?

Back in Stock Waitlist gives your subscribers a fast and seamless way to get notifications when products they want to purchase come back in stock, and leverages multiple features in Attentive. Before your subscribers can enroll in and receive back-in-stock waitlist messages from you, you’ll need to complete three separate workflows. You can complete them in any order.

  1. Add the Shopify code snippet: Add a code snippet to your Shopify store that adds a customizable Notify me CTA button to your product pages. The Notify me CTA button shows for both mobile and desktop visitors to your Shopify store. Note that you must have an administrator-level role or a role that permits you to edit store templates in order to add the code snippet.
