If you schedule a campaign and notice that one of your messages needs to be changed, you can pause your campaign and edit each message within it. You can also edit a campaign to add or remove messages.
You should know
- Sent messages cannot be edited. If your campaign’s status is Sending, you can pause the campaign and edit it, but messages already sent to subscribers will not include your edits. The remaining recipients will receive your revised messages once you reschedule your campaign.
- If your campaign includes multiple text or email messages and you pause any message except the last message, each subsequent message will be unscheduled. You’ll need to reschedule each message in your campaign.
- Don't delete the original short link when you edit campaign messages, even if you need to edit its destination URL. Instead, click on the short link and edit the original URL. This ensures that subscribers who already received the campaign also have the correct destination URL.
Campaign statuses and filters
Campaigns in Attentive organizes campaigns using the following statuses:
Status | Filter | Description |
Sending | Scheduled | Campaigns that are actively being sent to subscribers. If you pause the campaign, it’s moved to the Delivered filter, where you can copy and edit it. |
Queued | Scheduled | Campaigns that are in the queue to be sent to subscribers. You can pause and edit the campaign from the Scheduled filter and then relaunch it from the Drafts filter. |
Ended | Delivered | Campaigns that finished sending messages to subscribers or campaigns that you ended. You can make copies of these campaigns. |
Paused | Delivered | Campaigns that were removed from the queue. You can edit, copy, end, resume, or send these campaigns. |
Draft | Drafts |
Campaigns that haven’t been launched or paused campaigns. You can edit, copy, resume, send, or delete these campaigns. |
Delivered | Delivered | Campaigns that were successfully delivered to all of the configured subscribers. You can make copies of these campaigns. |
Pause and edit a campaign
- Go to the Campaigns list page.
- Click the three dots next to a campaign and select an option based on the Status of your campaign:

Sending: Select Pause sending and confirm when prompted.
Your campaign will be paused. Click the three dots again, and select Edit. - Scheduled: Click Edit.
- Paused: Click Edit.

Sending: Select Pause sending and confirm when prompted.
- Make edits to your campaign message. You can change message copy and media. Once you’re finished, click Review & schedule your campaign to reschedule it.
Pause or resume sending campaigns in bulk
You can pause and resume all of your sending campaigns at once if necessary.
- On the Campaigns page, click the three dots next to + Create campaign.
- Select Pause all sending campaigns. A confirmation message appears with all of the campaigns that’ll be paused.
- Click Confirm.
- Make any needed changes to your campaigns. For more information, see Design your campaign.
- When you’re satisfied with your changes, go back to the Campaigns page.
- Click the three dots next to + Create campaign, and select Resume all paused campaigns.
- If you don’t want to resume all campaigns, you can resume them individually using the three dots to the right of the individual campaign.
