Understand your email invoice

Your monthly invoice for Attentive Email depends on several factors, including which Attentive Email product your brand uses, how many email subscribers you have, and how many messages you send.

How Attentive prices email

Attentive offers two Email products: Triggered Email and our Full ESP platform (Campaign Email and Triggered Email). The amount you pay each month depends on which Email products you use.

Campaign Email

Campaign Email is billed as a flat monthly amount, determined by the number of contacts you have in your subscriber list. A contact is defined as an email address with an active email marketing subscription. Each pricing tier comes with a corresponding maximum list size and sending limit. If you exceed the maximum list size or sending limit associated with your tier, you move to the tier that corresponds to your new list size or send volume.

For example, if you have a list size of 10,000 (which allows for 100,000 email sends) with a monthly campaign fee of $150, but you send 101,000 emails during the month, you get billed for the tier that allows for up to 105,000 email sends, with a campaign fee of $175. The fee is flexible—if you return to lower send volumes the following month and stay under the 100,000 send limit, you will only be charged $150.

Notes:

  • Attentive Campaign Email includes access to Triggered Email.
  • If you send both Campaign and Triggered emails, emails sent from both products count towards the maximum number of email sends per pricing tier.
  • Send count resets each month.

Triggered Email

Pricing for Triggered Email is a fixed, flat monthly fee, based on your global monthly traffic. There are no dynamic or variable pricing tiers when you purchase Triggered Email.

Discounts

For Campaign Email, any negotiated discounts get applied as an effective discount against your flat monthly fee, relative to your respective tier.

For Triggered Email, any negotiated discount gets applied against the fixed monthly list price.

Use the Email Billable Spend report to better understand your invoice

You can use the Email Billable Spend report to better understand your monthly invoice. Follow these steps to run the report:

  1. Go to the Generated reports tab on the Reports page.
  2. Search for the Email Billable Spend report.
  3. Select a Date Range (e.g., 2023-07-01 through 2023-07-31) and enter your email address.

    Notes:
    • Dates in the date range are inclusive.
    • Subscriber count data prior to June 14, 2023 is not available in this report.
  4. Click Generate Report.

The Email Billable Spend report includes helpful data about your email program, including the following:

  • Email Marketing List Size: the number of marketing subscribers in your list at the end of each day in the report’s range.
  • Send Summary: number of triggered emails sent, number of campaign emails sent, and total number of emails sent during the report’s range.
  • Daily Message Count: number of triggered emails sent, number of campaign emails sent, and total number of emails sent for each day in the report’s date range.
  • Triggered Message Details: number of triggered emails sent per journey trigger type during the report’s date range.
  • Campaign Message Details: the send date, message ID, message name, and number of campaign emails sent during the report’s date range.

Notes:

  • The data in this report should be considered preliminary. Message counts may differ from what’s shown in your invoice.
  • Daily subscriber list size counts may differ from counts shown in other Attentive reports due to company time zone and other factors.
  • This report represents a snapshot of your email program as of the date and time the report is run, but only your invoice will show the finalized data for a given month.
  • In the case of any discrepancy between the data in this report and your monthly invoice, the data in your monthly invoice should be considered final.

Frequently asked questions

How is the number of emails sent each month counted?

Your total number of emails sent includes both Campaign and Triggered emails (including marketing and transactional emails).

How is the number of subscribers each month counted?

Your total number of subscribers each month is the maximum number of marketing email subscribers in your list in a given month.

How does discounting get applied?

For Campaign Email, discounts get applied as an effective discount against your flat monthly fee, relative to your respective tier. For Triggered Email, any negotiated discount is applied against the fixed monthly list price.

What happens if I exceed the maximum number of email sends associated with my current pricing tier?

If you exceed the maximum number of email sends associated with your pricing tier, you move to the next, higher tier for the corresponding number of sends for that billing cycle.

Can I see a preview of my next monthly invoice?

You can use the Email Billable Spend report to get a sense of what will be on your next monthly invoice. Keep in mind that the data you see in the report should be considered preliminary.

What happens if subscriber and message send counts in the Email Billable Spend report are different from my monthly invoice?

In the case of any discrepancy between the data in the Email Billable Spend report and your monthly invoice, the data in your monthly invoice should be considered final. This is because the report represents a snapshot of your email program as of the date and time the report is run, whereas invoices include finalized data.
