Shopper Approved

The Shopper Approved + Attentive integration can help you collect more reviews by allowing you to send a review request link to customers via SMS. Use prebuilt journeys to send automated messages based on star rating and review data, and use segments to organize subscribers based on custom attributes.

With this integration, you can:

  • Send review requests via SMS
  • Automatically respond to negative reviews or thank customers for their positive review
  • Customize Shopper Approved’s prebuilt journeys or create your own
  • Segment subscribers based on review attributes

Prerequisites

Ensure that you meet the following requirements in order to set up this integration:

  • An active Shopper Approved Seller Rating account and/or an active Product Reviews account

Now, complete the following procedure to set up the integration for Shopper Approved and Attentive.

Set up the integration

  1. On your Shopper Approved dashboard, go to App Marketplace under Review Tools.

  2. Find the Attentive app and click Get Started.
    You’re asked to sign in to your Attentive account if you’re not already signed in.
  3. Authorize Shopper Approved to access your Attentive account.

    You’re redirected back to the Shopper Approved App Marketplace, and your account is now connected, even if you don’t receive a success message.

Send review requests via SMS

After the integration is connected, you can create a custom journey to send a full survey review request in Attentive by choosing one of the following journey triggers:

  • Seller Rating SMS (initial seller survey has been filled out)
  • Product Review SMS (initial survey has been filled out on a site that has product reviews)

The following table lists the available custom event variables for the journey:

Custom Event Variable Description
{firstName} Customer's first name as entered in the initial survey
{companyName} The name of your company as it appears on your Shopper Approved dashboard
{rateUrl} Unique link to the customer’s full review survey
{productName}

Full name of each of the products purchased

Note: If your products have lengthy names that aren’t conducive to texts, you might not want to include this variable.

Automatically respond to reviews

You can create a custom journey to automatically respond to negative reviews or thank customers for their positive review. Start the journey by choosing one of the following journey triggers:

  • 4- and 5-star Positive Review Response SMS (full survey has been filled out with an overall rating of 4 or 5 stars)
  • 3-star Neutral Review Response SMS (full survey has been filled out with an overall rating of 3 stars)
  • 1- and 2-star Critical Review Response SMS (full survey has been filled out with an overall rating of 1 or 2 stars)

Customize Shopper Approved’s prebuilt journeys

For your convenience, Shopper Approved has set up the following prebuilt journeys that you can use as-is or customize to fit your needs:

  • Seller Rating SMS (Send a text to subscribers who’ve filled out the initial seller survey to request a full survey review)
  • Product Review SMS (Send a text to subscribers who’ve filled out the initial survey to request a product review)
  • 4- and 5-star Positive Review Response SMS (Send a text thanking customers for their positive review)
  • 3-star Neutral Review Response SMS (Send a text to customers who’ve left a 3-star review to ask if they want to talk to someone in your customer service department about their recent order)
  • 1- and 2-star Critical Review Response SMS (Send a text to customers who‘ve left a 1- or 2-star review to ask if they want to talk to someone in your customer service department)

You can access these journeys by selecting the Prebuilt journeys tab on the Journeys screen in Attentive.

Segment subscribers based on review attributes

After the integration is connected, you can create a dynamic segment in Attentive to further market to subscribers who meet certain criteria.

In the example below, we’re creating a segment of subscribers who’ve filled out the initial survey on a site that has product reviews.

You can now send a text message to every subscriber in that segment by setting up a campaign.

In the example below, we’re sending a message to every customer who gave us a critical 1- or 2-star review and offering them a 10% coupon code in the hopes that they’ll give us another chance.
