Segment using Klaviyo email events and profile data

Klaviyo users can segment using Klaviyo data. The following data can be used to build Attentive segments:

  • Klaviyo profile data: custom attributes, city, zip code, and email opt-in date.
  • Klaviyo email engagement data: email received, email opened, and email clicked.

Before you begin

The functionality in this beta is available to Klaviyo users who have a live integration with Attentive.

To check the integration:

  1. Go to Marketplace.
The App Marketplace tab at a client showing Klaviyo as an installed app.
  2. Klaviyo should appear in the Installed by you tab
  3. If you need to install Klaviyo, search for Klaviyo and follow the instructions in the Klaviyo Setup Guide.

Segment with Klaviyo email engagement and profile data

Customers with an Attentive/Klaviyo integration have the following filtering options:

On the A subscriber's activity menu:

  • Received an email
  • Opened an email
  • Clicked an email

On the A subscriber's characteristics menu:

  • Custom attributes
  • Zip code
  • City
  • Email opt-in date
Note: See Create a dynamic segment for complete instructions on creating a segment.

Practice exercise

Create a segment of subscribers who received a Klaviyo email but didn't open it, which is helpful if you want to send a follow-up email but not include those who opened the first one.

  1. Choose A subscriber's activity from the conditions menu.
  2. Build the statement by choosing Has and then Received an email from the menus.
Image showing a user choosing 'Has Received an Email' in Attentive's dynamic segment builder.
  3. Select a frequency (at least once) and timeframe (over all time).

This segment targets subscribers who didn't open an email and excludes anyone who received and opened/clicked the first email.

Notes

  • The number of subscribers starts syncing from the day the Klaviyo integration goes live and  backfills up to 90 days.
  • The Eligible recipients count may change as you adjust the time/frequency settings. See here for more information about how eligible subscribers are included/excluded.
