The Attentive and Okendo integration allows you to send review requests through email and text messages to customers who opted in to receive emails or text messages through Attentive. You can also set up reminders to increase your chances of collecting reviews from customers.
With this integration, you can:
- Build a journey in Attentive to send review requests and review reminders through SMS
- Create an Okendo sequence to connect to an Attentive journey
Prerequisites
Ensure that you meet the following requirements in order to set up this integration:
- Have an Okendo Power Plan or above account
Now, complete the following procedure to set up the integration for Okendo and Attentive.

Build a journey in Attentive to send review requests
You can create a custom journey by selecting the Okendo Review Request event in Attentive to trigger the journey. For more information, see Building Journeys in Attentive to Send Review Requests.
After the integration is connected, you can create a custom journey in Attentive using the custom event and event variables from Okendo. You can send both email and text messages in journeys triggered by the Okendo Review Request event. The following table lists the available custom event variables for the journey:
Custom Event Variables | Description |
{{subscriber.firstName}} |
Customer's first name as it appears in their Shopify order. |
{{subscriber.lastName}} |
Customer's last name as it appears in their Shopify order. |
{{triggerEvent.custom["Product Name"]}} |
Name of a product in the customer's Shopify order. Note: Okendo sends the name of the first product in the order to Attentive. |
{{triggerEvent.custom["Product Review Url"]}} |
URL of the review request form. Note: You must add the {Product Review Url} event variable so that your customers can access the review request form. The URL links to the review request form for the first product in the review. Your customers can submit reviews for any other products in their orders after they submit the first review. |
{{triggerEvent.custom["Product Variant Name"]}} |
If one exists, name of the product variant. |
Create an Okendo Sequence
When you create an Okendo sequence that connects to a journey in Attentive, you can send email and text message review requests to customers that opted in to receive text messages. If the Okendo integration only sends text messages through Attentive , Okendo can still send review request emails to customers who either do not have a phone number or choose not to receive text messages.
You must set up a sequence in Okendo whether you send Okendo email messages, text messages, or both through Attentive.
Keep in mind that the sequence can send information for only one product per event, so it automatically selects the first product in the order to send to Attentive. If you disconnect the integration, this Okendo sequence stops sending any review requests.
For step-by-step instructions, see Creating an Okendo Sequence for Attentive.
