Segment reporting in Attentive lets you view campaign performance metrics for each targeted segment in your SMS and email campaigns. By analyzing how different audience segments engage with your messages, you can optimize your segmentation strategy to improve engagement and maximize ROI.

Filter by segments in reports
In Reports, you can generate reports that include segment-level performance data, providing deeper insights across multiple campaigns and time periods. The Segment dimension allows you to break down campaign performance by individual segments:
- Grouping Metrics by Segment: Customize your reports to group metrics by the Segment dimension. This allows you to see how each segment performs across your campaigns.
- Filtering by Segment: You can filter reports to focus on a specific segment. Currently, filtering is limited to one segment at a time to ensure accurate data aggregation.
- Understanding Totals: Due to segment overlap, the sum of individual segment metrics may not equal overall campaign totals. Reports display an Overall Performance total that reflects overall performance across all segments.
View segment performance in segment reports
Go to the Reports Library to access the Campaign Performance by Segment and Segment Aggregate Campaign Performance. You can customize reports by:
- Add, remove, or group by metrics and dimensions.
- Applying filters to focus on specific data.
- Selecting custom date ranges and comparing periods.
- Saving customized reports for quick access later.
Campaign Performance by Segment Report
Use this report to analyze how each segment performs across your campaigns. You can break down campaign metrics by individual segments to understand their performance.
Metrics include:
- Message: The copy that appeared in the campaign message.
- Segment: The name of the segment.
- Included Segments: Names of segments included in campaign message. Displays ‘All subscribers’ if no segments are included or excluded. Displays ‘All included subscribers’ if no specific segments are included but some are excluded. When enabled, Audiences AI may add additional subscribers likely to make a purchase and exclude subscribers less likely to purchase.
- Excluded Segments: Names of segments excluded from campaign message. Displays ‘None’ if no segments are excluded. When enabled, Audiences AI may add additional subscribers likely to make a purchase and exclude subscribers less likely to purchase.

Segment Aggregate Campaign Performance Report
Use this report to view aggregate performance metrics for each segment over time, independent of specific campaigns. This report focuses on overall segment performance, allowing you to identify high-performing segments and inform future targeting strategies.
Note: This report only includes data about messages specifically sent to a given segment. It doesn’t show overall performance for a given segment across all messages.
