Segment by previous campaign engagement

We know that subscribers who've clicked a campaign message are more likely to engage with follow-up messages. Using a specific dynamic segment in Attentive, you can target not only those subscribers who've clicked any campaign message in the past, but also those who've clicked a specific message. You can also segment on subscribers who've clicked or not clicked a previously sent campaign message.

Check out these examples for inspiration:

  • Select subscribers who've clicked on a previous campaign message about a sale promotion to send them a message for early access to a new sale.
  • Select subscribers who've clicked on a new product announcement text to send them follow-up information regarding the new product.

To segment your subscriber list to a specific campaign message:

  1. Click Segments in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click + Create segment.
  3. Click Create next to Dynamic segment.
  4. On the Create a segment screen, select A subscriber’s activity in the first drop-down.
  5. Use the filters to compose a conditional statement such as: Has... Clicked a shortlink at least once over all time.
  6. Click Filter.
A new campaign conditional filter opens below.
  7. Choose the specific campaign by clicking the Choose campaign list.
A list of campaigns appears, starting with scheduled campaigns (tagged “Scheduled”), and then chronologically from the last one sent.
Add campaigns to your segment window with a searchable list of past campaigns, including their names, send dates, times, and statuses, checkboxes to select campaigns, and 'Cancel' and 'Apply Selection' buttons at the bottom.
  8. Check the campaign, and then click Apply Selection.
  9. Click Create and save your segment.
