How to prepare your SMS program for iOS 26

Apple’s iOS 26 update changes how SMS messages are filtered in the Messages app. With this update, messages from “Unknown Senders” are routed to a separate inbox with no notifications, making it less likely your subscribers will see them.

Why this matters: If Apple doesn’t classify your brand as a “Known Sender,” your messages may be silenced and hidden. This can directly affect deliverability, engagement, and revenue especially heading into the holiday season.

Attentive offers several solutions to keep your messages front and center in subscribers’ main inboxes, including…

  • Two-Tap™ sign-up is built in: Our default mobile sign-up units use Two-Tap™, so your brand is recognized as a Known Sender.
  • Contact card saves: Subscribers can add your contact card right from the welcome journey, keeping your messages front and center.
  • iOS 26 visibility tools (coming soon): These features will help safeguard deliverability for your existing subscribers.
