Schedule a sign-up unit

As you prepare for high-volume shopping periods, such as Black Friday / Cyber Monday, you can schedule different sign-up units to override one or more of your current units for a specified (or infinite) time period. The new sign-up unit automatically replaces your existing units for as long as you schedule it to. If you configure an end date for your schedule, your original sign-up unit(s) will automatically replace the temporary one(s) on the day and time that you configure.

Follow the instructions below to schedule a sign-up unit:

  1. If you haven’t already done so, create and design your new sign-up unit.
  2. Review your unit(s) and make sure they have the correct copy, offer (if applicable) welcome journey, and display rules.
  3. On the Sign-up Units page, click the Schedules tab.
  4. To the right, click Create schedule. A window appears.

  5. Below Schedule Name, enter an internal-facing name for your sign-up unit schedule.
  6. In the first drop-down, select the sign-up unit(s) you’d like to activate.
    • If you don’t see the unit you’re looking for, double-check that its status is INACTIVE or DRAFT. Units that are currently ACTIVE can’t be selected, as the schedule triggers the status change.
  7. In the second drop-down, select the ACTIVE sign-up units that you’d like to temporarily replace. These will enter a paused state until the end of your scheduled period. If you don’t see the unit, make sure it’s active.

Note: Landing pages and A/B test units can't be included in schedules. See FAQs: Sign-up unit schedules for more information.

  8. Below Start date, enter the day and time you want your new sign-up unit to display.
  9. In the drop-down below Stop date, select whether you’d like to schedule this unit temporarily or permanently:
    • Has a stop date & time: Schedule this sign-up unit for a temporary time frame. Then, enter the day and time it ends.
    • No stop date - runs indefinitely: Schedule this sign-up unit with no stop date. Starting on your specified date and time, and the schedule shows as completed.
  10. (Optional) Below Select offer display screen to activate, choose the offer that you want to activate during this schedule.
    • There can only be one offer display screen active at a time. Selecting a new offer display screen pauses the current one until the configured schedule ends.

Pro Tip: Keep the language of your offer display screen generic (e.g., Save on your next order) so that you don’t need a new to swap it out when your offer changes.

  11. When you’re satisfied, click Create. The sign-up unit appears on your Schedules page.

Access schedule information

From the Sign-up Unit Schedules page, you can access all of your past, upcoming, and current sign-up unit schedules, and their current status. When you click > next to the schedule, all associated sign-up units display with the following information:

  • Sign-up unit: Click the link to preview your sign-up unit.
  • Status during: The status (either active or inactive) of the sign-up during the configured schedule time.
  • Status after: The status (either active or inactive) the sign-up unit will return to when the schedule ends.

You can click the three dots to the right of the sign-up unit schedule to edit or cancel the schedule.

Review and resolve sign-up unit errors

Validation within the scheduling tool will prevent you from choosing a unit to be active during a schedule if the unit is already active (a unit that is already active wouldn’t need to be activated in an upcoming schedule). It will also prevent the inclusion of any units that won't work within a schedule (eg. Units in an A/B test or landing pages).

If an edit results in an “error” after a schedule is created, the UI will show an alert and the impacted units will be red with a warning symbol.

You can determine the issue by looking at the list page. If Status during is the same as Status after,  the unit will maintain its status when the schedule ends and won't revert to the expected status.

To resolve:

  1. Click the three dots, then click Edit. Edit will highlight which units are problematic and outline the steps to resolve.
  2. Remove the unit(s) from the schedule by clicking X on the ones that are highlighted red.
  3. Go back to Sign-up units and update the status of the unit(s) to be whatever you want it to revert to after the schedule ends (eg. If you want the unit to be paused during the schedule and then reactivate, activate it now).
  4. Go back to Schedules and add the unit(s) back into the schedule within the relevant section (active or pause).
  5. Save all changes.

Once resolved, the error warnings will cease. See FAQs: Sign-up unit schedules for more information.
