Schedule a sign-up unit

When you’re preparing for peak shopping periods like Black Friday/Cyber Monday, the holidays, or a flash sale, you should swap your current sign-up units for special ones created for these occasions. You can schedule sign-up units in advance, and they’ll automatically display at the times you specify. Once the event ends, you can reschedule your original sign-up unit or schedule a new one.

Also, note that you can set which sign-up unit(s) pause during special periods and for how long.

Create a sign-up unit schedule

    1. If you haven’t already, create and design your new sign-up unit.
    2. Review your unit(s) and make sure they have the correct copy, offer (if applicable) welcome journey, and display rules.
    3. On the Sign-up Units page, click the Schedules tab.

    4. To the right, click + Create schedule.

    5. Select from:
      • Sign-up unit activation: Activate one or more existing sign-up units and display screens (optional) at the selected time.
      • Swap sign-up units: Activate one or more existing sign-up units and display screens (optional) and pause one or more existing sign-up units at the same selected time.
      • Sign-up unit deactivation: Pause an existing sign-up unit and display screen (optional) at the selected time.
        Note:

The type you select will determine which options are available during set up (ie. if you choose Sign-up unit activation you will only see the option to select units to activate and you will not be able to choose units to pause), but this can be changed at any time by using the back button.

      mceclip3.png
      • Schedule Name: Enter an internal-facing name for your sign-up unit schedule.
      • Start date: Enter the day and time you want your selections to take effect.
      • Stop date: Select whether you’d like this change to be temporary or permanent.
        • Has a stop date & time: Select this to schedule the update for a temporary time frame. Then, enter the day and time it ends.
        • No stop date - runs indefinitely: Select this to schedule the update with no stop date. If you choose this option, the schedule will show as completed when the start date and time passes.
      • If you don’t see the unit you’re looking for, double-check that its status is INACTIVE or DRAFT. Units that are currently ACTIVE can’t be selected, as the schedule triggers the status change.
    7. Click Next.
      Note:

The available options vary based on the type of schedule. You can click Back to change the schedule type at any time.

    8. Select one or more sign-up units to activate from.
      • If you don’t see the sign-up unit you’re looking for, double-check that its status is INACTIVE or DRAFT. You can’t select sign-up units that are currently ACTIVE, as the schedule triggers the status change.

    9. If you’re swapping or deactivating a schedule, select the ACTIVE sign-up units that you want to temporarily replace. During your schedule, these sign-up units are paused until the end of your scheduled period, at which point they become ACTIVE again. If you don’t see the sign-up unit, make sure it’s currently ACTIVE.
      Note:

Landing pages and A/B test units are not included in schedules. See FAQs: Sign-up unit schedules for more information.

    10. (Optional) Below Select offer display screen to activate, choose the offer that you want to activate during this schedule.
      • There can only be one offer display screen active at a time. Selecting a new offer display screen pauses the current one until the configured schedule ends.
      • Pro tip: Keep the language of your offer display screen generic (e.g., “Save on your next order”) so that you don’t need to swap it out with a new one when your offer changes.
    11. Review your schedule on the last window.
    12. Click Schedule. The sign-up unit appears on the Schedules tab.

Access schedule information

On the Sign-up Unit Schedules tab, you can access all of your past, upcoming, and current sign-up unit schedules and see their current status.

  4. Click an individual sign-up unit link to preview your sign-up unit (list view only).
    • During: The status (either active or inactive) of the sign-up during the configured schedule time.
    • After: The status (either active or inactive) the sign-up unit will return to when the schedule ends.
  5. Click the three dots to the right of the sign-up unit schedule to edit the schedule.

Review and resolve sign-up unit errors

You can’t schedule a sign-up unit to activate if it’s already active. You also can’t add any sign-up units that won't work within a schedule, like those in an A/B test or landing pages.

If you see an error” after you create a schedule, you can understand what caused it in the list view.
mceclip0.png
If the During status is the same as the After status, the sign-up unit will maintain its current status when the schedule ends and won't revert to the original status.

To resolve:

  1. Click the three dots, then click Edit. This highlights which sign-up units are causing the issue and outlines the steps to resolve it.
  2. Remove the sign-up unit(s) from the schedule by clicking X on the ones that are highlighted red.
  3. Go back to Sign-up units and update the status of the sign-up unit(s) to be whatever you want it to revert to after the schedule ends (e.g., If you want the sign-up unit to be paused during the schedule and then reactivated, activate it now).
  4. Go back to Schedules and add the sign-up unit(s) back to the schedule within the relevant section (active or pause).
  5. Save all changes.
