LoyaltyLion postback

With the Attentive and LoyaltyLion postback integration, you can reward your customers with loyalty points when they sign up to receive SMS marketing campaigns. This integration allows you to send subscriber data, including email address, phone number, and the amount of loyalty points, from Attentive back to your LoyaltyLion account.

Notes:
  • Subscribers must provide an email address that matches an existing profile in LoyaltyLion (either a guest or enrolled profile) for data to be sent successfully.
  • Points are assigned only after LoyaltyLion marks the subscriber as enrolled. Guest profiles can receive postbacks, but they must be converted to enrolled profiles for points to be assigned.
  • Postbacks are triggered for both transactional and marketing SMS opt-ins. Points are typically assigned for marketing SMS opt-ins. For transactional SMS opt-ins, points are assigned if the subscriber has an existing LoyaltyLion account.
  • Delays in point assignment may occur if the subscriber’s enrollment status in LoyaltyLion changes shortly after opting into SMS.
  • Use consistent email addresses across LoyaltyLion and Attentive to avoid data mismatch issues. For example, if a subscriber uses jane.doe@gmail.com during SMS opt-in but their profile in LoyaltyLion has jane.doe@example.com, the mismatch prevents data from being sent and points from being assigned.

Prerequisites

To set up this integration, make sure you have the following:

  • An active LoyaltyLion subscription and a live loyalty program.
  • A LoyaltyLion plan that includes the ability to reward points for SMS sign-ups.

Additional considerations:

  • Subscriber email addresses must exist in LoyaltyLion before they opt into SMS via an Attentive sign-up unit. For example, if the subscriber provides an email during SMS opt-in that is not already in LoyaltyLion, no data will be sent, and no points will be assigned.
  • If you’re capturing SMS subscribers through a loyalty page linked to an Attentive landing page, ensure your sign-up unit includes a field to capture email addresses.

Step 1. Create a custom rule in LoyaltyLion

Set up the number of points a user can receive for signing up to receive SMS marketing campaigns. Make sure to save the Identifier name (attentive_sms), as well as the token and secret for the integration.

Step 2. Get LoyaltyLion Token and Secret

Complete the following steps to locate your token and secret:

  1. Click the Manage tab and click Settings in the Configuration section on the left-side navigation.
  2. Locate your Token and Secret at the bottom of the page.

  3. Copy and save your unique Token and Secret.

After you collect your unique API token, secret, and the name of your custom activity from LoyaltyLion, complete the next procedure.

Step 3. Set up the integration in Attentive

Now, complete the following procedure to set up the integration in Attentive:

  1. Navigate to the integrations setup page and select LoyaltyLion.
    • Note: If the LoyaltyLion tile is not available in the integration setup page, contact our White Glove team (whiteglove@attentivemobile.com) and provide them with the details in the next steps.
  2. Enter the following details, which you collected in Step 2:
    • Token
    • Secret
    • Loyalty Name (also known as the Identifier in LoyaltyLion)
  3. Click Set up integration.
    Your LoyaltyLion account is now connected to Attentive.
